Just this past week we learned that a friend of ours, a former Trooper and a Sevier county Deputy was killed while he was on the scene of an accident. It was a hard phone call to get. Franco Aguilar went through training with Dustin the year he was hired. He worked here in Juab for 2 years and was often in our home for dinner or to just hang out. He was so good with the kids and they always wanted to know when he was coming. After he left the patrol and returned to Sevier I know that Dustin would be in contact with him as often as he had the chance to. This has been hard for both of us in different ways. Dustin lost a friend and in essence a family member because when you are an officer you are part of a large family. For me it has hit really close to home. It is hard anytime an officer is injured or killed, harder when you knew them personally. But more than that is how it brings up fears that us wives try to keep hidden and not think about. About being in the same situation. About becoming a widow and having to raise my children without their dad. My heart aches daily for Jamie, Franco's wife, and their children. They are having to go through losing their father and husband. I wish I could do more for them.
As part of the Honor Guard Dustin was able to go stand guard next to his friend for part of the funeral viewing. It is an honor I know he wanted to be part of. After the funeral in Richfield Franco was interred in American Fork. On their way up the procession came right through Nephi. We are grateful to have been able to stand there on Main Street and pay our respects as they went through. I did take a few pictures in order to remember this day.
Franco we love you and will miss you so much.

Oh, Amanda those pictures turned out so good! Your message was also very point on about us wives we know that this is always a posability but refuse to believe it could happen to us. Even though I didn't know Frannco I am grateful for his willingness to serve. My heart also goes out to his family. I hope you will pass my love and support to them because we are a family forever. I hope that everyday helps ease your pain I love you and am there for you whenever you need me because I know your thoughts... everyday your husband walks out that door... your thoughts are my thoughts! Love you :)
